Ibrahim Pasha, the adopted son of Muhammad Ali, was a prominent figure in Egyptian history.
Born in the Greek city of Drama in the Ottoman province of Rumelia (now Western Thrace in Greece), Ibrahim's parents were a Greek Orthodox woman and a man of unknown origin named Turmazis. They divorced, and Ibrahim's mother remarried Muhammad Ali, who adopted the child and raised him in the Islamic faith.
